COVID-19 Information Updates

Keep up to date with what the Town is doing in response to the novel coronavirus situation.

Council Verge

Verges account for a surprisingly large amount of land within the Town. The land occupied by verges is vested in the Town, and while this is not owned by the resident, the maintenance and up keep on the verge outside their property is their responsibility, this is because they gain the benefit of the amenity it provides. The Town aims to have consistently high quality streetscapes, however there are a number of options you have in order to maximise the visual appeal of your verge.

The Town is responsible for street trees and enforcing nature strip requirements, but verge maintenance is the householder’s responsibility. If your verge is not maintained correctly the Town will request in writing that this be completed.
