Have Your Say on Management Plan for Buckland Hill

The Town is excited to announce, and advertise for comment, a draft Conservation Management Plan for Buckland Hill, Mosman Park.

Acting as a guiding document for future conservation and management of the site, the Conservation Management Plan aims to ensure that decisions are made with due regard to the heritage and environmental significance of the place and that its values are respected and enhanced by future activities.

Buckland Hill is largely unique because of the nationally significant Leighton Battery coastal defence artillery post with associated infrastructure including tunnels and gun emplacements.

As well as being a heritage site of national, state and local significance it is also a Class A environmental reserve with the presence of a declared Threatened Ecological Community identified within the site’s expansive vegetation.

The Conservation Management Plan aims to capture the many moving parts of the site, as well as meet the management objectives of several state government stakeholders; all aiming to improve upon and continue to deliver a quality site for the enjoyment of the local and wider community.

The draft Plan can be downloaded as well as answers to Frequently Asked Questions.  These documents can also be viewed in hard copy at the Town’s Administration Centre during business hours 8.30am to 4.30pm Monday to Friday.

The Town is accepting comments until COB 2 August 2019.
