Remembrance Day in Mosman Park This Weekend
Almost one hundred years ago on 11 November 1918, the guns fell silent on the Western Front, thereby marking the end of the First World War.
To mark this historic occasion, the Mosman Park Community Men’s Shed will host a special observance during the annual Mosman Craft Market.
The market itself will run from 9.30am to 2.30pm at Tom Perrott Reserve, and at 11am, the music will stop, there will be an announcement to mark the occasion and its meaning, and then there will be a bugle recording of The Last Post, followed by one minutes silence and then Reveille.
Meanwhile in Memorial Park, the Mosman Park Sub-Branch of the RSL will hold a small gathering for its members at Memorial Park at 10.30am, prior to a minute’s silence at 11am.
We encourage those who want to mark Remembrance Day to join the Shed Men, representatives of the Rotary Club of Mosman Park-Cottesloe and the local community at Tom Perrott Reserve.
Community members who join us at the Mosman Craft Market (prior to and following the minute’s silence) can enjoy live music, festivities, view vintage cars and partake of food and beverages as well as do some early crafty Christmas shopping as well as find out about the many services offered by the Mosman Park Community Men’s Shed.
The Market will also feature the very popular “Antiques Rediscovered” opportunity where residents can bring along treasures from home to have them valued on the day, much like the BBC’s Antiques Roadshow.
Town staff will also be in attendance on the day to answer any questions you might have. Come and say g'day!
