Help Us Prevent Fires This Season

On or before 30 November 2018, or within 14 days of becoming an owner or occupier after that date, all property owners and occupiers are required to comply with the requirements of the Bush Fires Act 1954.

All properties must ensure that they are fire safe. On vacant blocks, all grass and inflammable matter must be cleared or slashed
to a height not exceeding 5cm.

All slashings must be removed and no fires may be lit. For all other land, proper fire safety is achieved when there is no fuel load within 3 metres from all property boundaries and there is a clearance of 3 metres around any buildings.

Any trees within these distances must be trimmed back to provide a vertical clearance of a minimum of three metres. These
measures to achieve fire safety must be implemented to the satisfaction of the Town.

Where these approaches to ensure fire safety are not practical to implement at your property, you may apply in writing to the Town by
no later than 15 November 2018 for permission to implement alternative measures.

The penalty for failing to comply is a fine of up to $5,000 and requirement to pay all costs for remedial works undertaken.
