The annual Mosman Park Volunteer Awards recognise everyday people who help out for the love of it.
If you know someone in the community who deserves a little recognition, the Town of Mosman Park encourage you to give ‘em a pat on the back and nominate them for one of the nine category awards. The Local Legend Awards are presented at Council’s annual Volunteers Function held in October each year.
Nominations are now closed for 2010 and will re-open in June 2011.
2010 Volunteers Function
On Friday 22 October 2010 the Town of Mosman Park held its annual Volunteers Function to recognise the valuable work of volunteers in Mosman Park. Over 100 guests including volunteers from local schools, sporting clubs, churches, senior services, arts and cultural groups, disability services and youth organisations attended the function at the iconic Memorial Hall.
Year 9 volunteers from Iona Presentation College set the mood for the evening as they impressed guests with their talented strings band “The Dolce String Quintet” led by their music teacher Simone Skala. His Worship the Mayor Ron Norris introduced the formal proceedings, sincerely thanking volunteers and acknowledging their critical importance to the community.
Mosman Park resident and senior role model Roma Perry, who has been volunteering for over 50 years, presented the keynote address sharing some of her personal experiences as a Heart Foundation Walking Group organiser.
Mayor Ron Norris and Deputy Mayor Councillor Ian Flack then presented the Youth Encouragement Grants before announcing the Local Legends 2010 Mosman Park Volunteer Awards.
The Town of Mosman Park would like to congratulate all grant recipients, nominees and award winners and thank those who filled out a nomination form. Community members are encouraged to contact the Council at any time throughout the year to advise of any groups or individuals who deserve recognition for their contribution to the community.
