Verge Weed Spraying

The Town manages weeds in a number of places and through a number of methods. In the roadway this includes on pathways and on traffic islands to remove weeds property owners may have missed while maintaining their verge garden. All herbicides used are domestically available and approved by the relevant authorities for application. Sometimes people have concerns over the use of chemical herbicides to manage weeds and applicable residents can apply to have the verge directly outside their home missed during weed spraying.

Applying for this exemptions will mean that the responsibility of maintaining the weeds on the path, against fences or walls, and immediately along the kerb, as well as all other weeds in the verge falls to the resident. Failure to meet the Town’s standards will require the Town to take the essential weed management back.

Once approved you will be given two signs with a registration number on it to place at both ends of your property to identify to the Town that your verge is to be skipped during spraying programs.

If you wish to apply for this exemption please complete the form and return it to the Administration Centre or via email to the Town.
